The Sims 4 screen flickering

When is the last time you updated your video driver?

Sometimes companies that make the drivers will update for specific game issues or general issues in the technology. On occasion if a company updates a game and uses a new feature in the driver or such, older drivers can act quirky.

Just be sure to get the driver from the legit company that makes the hardware and none of those "drivers" sites.

I also thought that would be the problem. I updated it yesterday, but I still have that problem.

@Overcast451  It's best to actually check the driver date and version instead of telling people to look into updating.  Some will have an already-updated driver that's throwing errors; some won't be able to update, or will try to but get an error; some could update but shouldn't, generally people with laptops where the manufacturer provides drivers tailored to the system.  And many players won't know where to look for a new driver, much less how to remove a corrupt one.

@dlgowjd05  You actually have a slightly newer Nvidia graphics driver installed than what Dell offers for your laptop.  The one from Dell is not a generic Nvidia release, meaning it was probably modified by Dell to work with your laptop model, and it's therefore the better driver to use, all else being equal.  So in the future, please install drivers from Dell, at least until your laptop is no longer supported.  You can get them here:

For now, please clean-uninstall the current driver and install the one from Dell, dated December 15.  Here's how to uninstall the driver:

The Intel graphics driver is the correct version and there's no evidence yet that it's a problem, so you can leave it alone.

Your dxdiag shows a number of EA App errors, so please also uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) and download a new copy of the installer.  Restart your computer after installing.

When testing Sims 4, please remove all mods and custom content just to be thorough.  You can add them back when the game is running normally.

@puzzlezaddict I installed the one from Dell and also reinstalled EA app, but it still has trouble on glitching and flickering. I also tried to change graphics.

@dlgowjd05  Does the flickering happen if you have the laptop lid mostly closed?  I'm wondering whether this is actually an issue with the cable that connects the screen and motherboard.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in windowed mode and let me know what you find.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open Options.ini, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

Yes, flickering still happens when the laptop lid is still closed. I tried windowed mode, but it is still the same.

@puzzlezaddict It finally worked when I changed to power saving option and restarted!! Thank you soooo much for helping me!!
