The Sims 4 Won't Shut Off

Three times in the last week my Sims 4 game has frozen when I try to turn it off. After selecting the option to save and exit, I can't use the UI anymore but the game never closes. Right-clicking the icon on the task bar and selecting "close window" does nothing. I can open the task manager with ctrl+alt+del but when I try to click anything on it, the screen goes back to full-screen Sims 4. I repaired my game only to have the same issue occur 2 days later. The only way I can get out of the game is to force shut down my computer. I'm worried about opening my game again because my last hard drive died after force-shutting down my computer.

  • @thegrreatfall  When a program freezes, if you can bring up the ctrl-alt-delete menu, you can choose to sign out rather than bringing up the Task Manager.  Windows will then force-close any running applications and put you back on the initial sign-in screen rather than shutting down.

Does this problem ever happen when you save alone, or when you quit without saving?  I'm not saying you can't save, just that it may help to separate the steps, saving first, then quitting.

For the problem itself, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
