"This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action."
The game was working fine before I cleared up a ton of space on my PC, so I could have deleted something on accident. I decided the best option was to uninstall the game and reinstall it. When I opened the game *from Steam*, it still displayed the error message: "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page." I don't know how to create an association in the Default Apps Settings page. I took peoples' advice by restarting my PC and Verifying Integrity of game files, and it said all 1272 files were validated successfully so I have everything downloaded. I also cleared cache, but nothing has changed so far. All I see when I try to open my game is that same god-forsaken error message: "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page." I feel like I've tried everything now, and I'm trying to explain my issue in as much detail as possible. I included an image that showed the error message on screen, and I also included a silly image that proved that my game worked well before I cleared up space. I don't know what is missing.
@businesshead The file in question is a component of the EA App, so try repairing the App. Download a fresh copy of the installer and run it, and you should be asked if you'd like to repair instead.
If that doesn't help, uninstall the App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine), and restart your computer before and reinstalling it.
