@MissPiggeh Could you try another household to see if it's this toddler or a general issue ?
I have tried all the households I added toddlers to (total of three) and they all do the same thing.
nope, no gluttons and no one took a piece of the cake before I put candles on it. All of that worked out okay, I made sure none of my sims were hungry when I made the cake as I have encountered those thieves before XD But thank you for the advice!

Did you also try a separate save to see if it's related to a certain save ?Tried on two new saves (besides original), one it wouldn't work and one would work flawlessly

This is a typical reaction when you have your aging options turned off. You will get the same reactions if using the MCC mod you will set the age of the toddler to "no age"
Maybe something went wrong with the settings of the length of the sima age in the options of the game.
Try changing these settings several times while in the game.
If this does not help try to do a factory reset of the game like is described in this post but do not paste anything into the new game folder except the folders: saves and Tray
