Transfer Sims 4 Folder to External Hard Drive

I hope there is someone that can help me.

I purchased an external hard drive to move over my Sims 4 folder. I downloaded Link Shell Extension and have all of that set up and showing correctly, however, I have tried to run the Sims 4 and it has been about 45 minutes and the game has still not loaded. Can someone walk me through this?
