Solved

Travel With broke the game, all load screens now lead back to the town map

As of the update today (12/16/14) things had been working fine, until I tried to "travel with" all the sims in my household.

This took me to the town map to select a location to travel to, but after selecting the park, the load screen just took me back to the town map.

This time, instead of asking for a location to travel to, it wanted me to pick a household to play. Confused, I selected my household again and it prompted me with a weird option to "select a sim to play".

Worried that something got corrupted, I closed the game from the options menu (without saving) and tried to load a save from the same household that had occurred about 10 minutes before. This brings me to the screen to select a household, but every time I click anything, whether it is a household to play or build mode on any lots, it always brings me back to the town map to select something after loading. There are no error messages that I can see, and the game doesn't crash.

Please help. I'm doing the legacy challenge and would be heartbroken if I had to start over after Generation 3.

I didn't have a chance to try your solution, but I did get the problem fixed.

I had not known about the "repair game" option in Origin because I generally play in Offline Mode (theres a weird memory issue that only happens when I play online) and the option to repair game doesn't show when you're in Offline Mode. Luckily someone reminded me that it was available so I went online and ran the repair.

This fixed the issues. I didn't play much longer after it was fixed, but everything looked to be normal.

Thanks for your quick response, though 🙂

  • @alyste2 Try moving your saves folder to the desktop: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\saves

Then start the game and a new town to see if that works. If it does, close the game and start putting the files from your backup saves folder on your desktop back into the newly created one. Start with slot00002 and leave slot0001 out (the autosave). You also don't need the scratch and the other folder.

Test after putting one file back and see if that is your legay game. If none work, try the backups (ver0-ver4). Just remove the verX to make them the active save game.
