Unable to get new case assignment in detective career

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a sim join the detective career, but unable to get a new case assignment on the computer in the police station.
What happens when the bug occurs? Unable to get the new case assignment, and cannot click on the crime map
What do you expect to see? Unable to get the new case assignment, and cannot click on the crime map.

My sim has joined the detective career, and the task is to get a new case assignment on the computer. The option of getting a new case assignment is not showing up on any of the computers in the police station, and I cannot click on the crime map. I have never edited the original lot. I have tried everything, for example using bb.enablefreebuild to get a new crime map (also the original crime map is in its default colour), playing a fresh game with a sim as detective and the problem is still there, or putting that crime map in the fresh game in a room, saving that room in the library and replacing the current map in the old game with the one in the fresh game, or just replacing the police station entirely with the one in the fresh game. I had the sim quit the career and join it again. Still, the option is not there. Currently, there is only the 'go on patrol' option and others that are non-detective related. Also, I have all the items required in the police station for it to be functional. The crime map is empty, without any clues on it, and I cannot click on it.
