There's a number of threads open with this issue, different things have worked for different people, for otheres, nothing has resolved the problem. I am still stuck waiting for a solution after four days of trying various things. You just need to look around this forum and try the various fixes suggested.
Yeah I tried everything i've ever read on here and nothing seems to help. Its unfortunate but at worst I can request refund and buy down the line when things get updated so I'm not to worried.

I had the same problem. Tried every fix listed. The only thing that worked was re-installing Windows 8 Pro. The first thing I tried was The Sims 4 and it worked first try.
An extreme measure for a game that should work on any system on the first try without re-installing but if you are past the 24 hour refund period its worth a try.

If you've had it longer than 24 hours they wont refund it. The 7 day policy is for unplayed games only. The second you tried to launch The Sims 4 even once, that started your 24 hours, even if it didn't actually do anything. Origin still detected the attempted launch and that's that.
