screenshot, srry if it doesnt work whenever i try to make a new sim and i click that checkmark thing in the popup it just wont load. i cant press any onscreen buttons but im able to press escape and close the popup. ive changed that one max sim setting to 200 already and it wont work. ive lost 3 sims that i fully designed but had to scrap them because it wont allow me to use them
jaystinky12 The user folder is the Sims 4 folder that contains saves, Tray files, and other user data, as opposed to the Sims 4 folder that contains the game's program files (what the EA App installs). The point is, use the guide I linked to find the location of the folder, and list that location for me.
i checked inside the sims 4 folder thing and cant find any user folder although i did find a file called UserData.lock. earlier today i did make the sims be an exception from windows antivirus because it was making my game unable to start, but me being unable to make new sims happened before that. (sorry if i mess something up or missed a step you told me to do im kinda dumb)

Please check your antivirus program for recent actions involving Sims 4 or the EA App. If you find anything, set the necessary exceptions/exclusions.
If that's not the issue, open the game and see whether your user folder is inside the OneDrive folder. (Even if it hasn't been, that could have changed.) Here's how to look:
