Unable to start Sims 4

I can't play Sims 4 through my EA account. The same message always appears: 'Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running.'

I've already uninstalled everything (the game and the application), reinstalled it, tried the restore option, checked Windows Firewall permissions, and added the 'Everyone' network as one of the posts suggested to solve the problem... But nothing seems to work! Please help me

  • @RitaMaria1308  Please try pausing OneDrive syncing before you play.  You can see the option by right-clicking the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

I Uninstalled then reinstalled my sims 4 because my new add-on wasn't working. Now no add-on is working. Can you help?

@mjudy1213  Please run searches for two or three of your missing packs.  Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and enter the folder name for one of the missing packs in the search field in the upper-right corner.  This is the full list of packs:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/extras-2/available-packs-dlc/

For example, if you're looking for Seasons, you'd search for EP05 .  Wait for the search to finish, then make sure the full file path is showing under each result.  If it's not, expand the window sideways as necessary.  Take a screenshot using Windows key-shift-S and attach it to a reply here.  Then repeat for one or two more packs.

@mjudy1213  I'd like to see the search results myself.  The screenshots should look something like this, minus the red:

If the search isn't running to completion, you can use Everything, from VoidTools, to search more effectively.  It's a free download and works great.
