Unplayable lag and freezing

Since either the last patch and/or Eco lifestyle (downloaded both at the same time), my game has been having very weird freezes and has become completely unplayable.
The environment (leaves in the air, cars on the road etc) continues but my sims and everything else does not.
The clock stops (we're talking average of 15-20 minutes REALTIME and sometimes more) whilst my sims either jiggle about on the spot or continue interacting, frozen, with whatever it is that they are doing at the time.
Nothing can be clicked on but the relationship bar still shows if you hover over a sim and the plumbob continues to spin as normal.
Eventually times jumps forward suddenly to however many hours it thinks has passed, before opening up any menu for the last item clicked on, however long ago that was. It then freezes again, in the same style as previously described for another long period of time, before jumping back in time to whatever time it was when this whole sequence started.

I did catch a video of this whole thing from start to finish, but the file is way too large to be uploaded her - even after compression it is over 90000K

Please help, I just want to play my game!

  • @rangoon1988  Please repair the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  If that doesn't help, disable Game Mode and Game Bar.  They each have a category in Windows Settings > Gaming.

If that doesn't help either, please move your entire Sims 4 user data folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to this folder yet; just see whether you get the same lag in a new save.  Let me know either way.

Hi puzzlezaddict, hankyou for getting back to me - I have uploaded the video to youtube and attached my dxdiag file 🙂

This particular video was filmed in the police station, but I've experienced the phenomena in the Britchester library and Darbys Den and also at home in Myshuno. It appears to be triggered by computers, but it doesn't seem to discriminate from my own sims trying to use them or NPC's.

I'm a bit gutted as I forgot to leave the UI on in the video, so I am going to attempt to get another today lol

@puzzlezaddict Repairing did not work and neither did disbling game mode. However after moving my data file, it did seem to be functioning as normal, even when interacting with computers - no lag, no freeze - absolutely fine!
