  • During the June 4th patch it said that my computer didn’t have sufficient space to continue the update so I moved my Electronic Arts folder and both Origin folders to an external 2 TB hard drive (that’s almost fully unused so there’s now plenty of space) so that the update could continue. Because i had moved the files it had to redownload the game and all packs (I have every pack with the exception of 5 stuff packs) before I could download the patch update. However, when I was able to go back into the game my saves are gone, even though they’re still in the Sims 4 files. I moved my mods folder out before the update so that can’t be a factor. Hope you can help.

You can not move your game like that. The correct way is to Open Origin rightclick the game and select Move. I hope you can untangle what you did otherwise Uninstall and reinstall.

  • @Dyoxus Moving this to tech for further troubleshooting.

Did you search your hard drive if the saves are anywhere ?

Ok, so I moved the game but since I had moved it incorrectly initially and in consequence it reinstalled the game, I now I have multiple Sims 4 folders in one place. I think that in this scenario, for the game to play the file you want, you have to have it be the only file named the Sims 4, but when I rename the other file, it just creates a new game file. Copying my saves and mods folders into the Sims 4 files it creates doesn’t do anything. I have 3 Sims 4 folders now, the original one that has all my saves and mods which is in the Electronic Arts folder (the one I want to play), one in the Origin Games folder and a third that it created after trying the renaming technique. Is there anyway for it to recognize and play the folder i want it to play?

  • Alright never mind I figured it out. I created a household in the game, and then hovered over the folder icon in game to see which folder the game was running from. It turns out the game must have created another Sims 4 folder in a part of my computer that I had never saved it to after I moved my original folder incorrectly, which is why I couldn’t find it and why putting my mods and saves into the other two Sims 4 folders didn’t work. At any rate, after finding which folder the game was running, I moved my mods and saves into that folder and it worked.
