The best place to look for advice with iMovie and how Mac apps work in general is the Apple site, their community forums for iMovie Mac and iMovie iOS and Google. If you are using another type of phone or computer then please look for similar searches for that device.

As for converting .avi files, VLC and Handbrake are good starting points.

PS - when urgently asking for help, a please wouldn't go amiss 😉
