VCRuntime140.dll crashes

I cannot run the EA App or Sims 4 as it crashes immediately with an error saying the "VCRuntime140.DLL contains an error" (see attached screenshot). I have tried all the usual fixes like reinstalling...

    @puzzlezaddictHi, thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it did not work for me. I still got the same error.

    I did a bit more digging on the EA site and found the link to download the desktop app, this had an option to repair the app which I tried and it seems to have worked, certainly I can now get into the EA app on my daughter's computer and Sims 4 is in the process of doing an update.

    It would have helped if the EA helpdesk told me about the repair function in the first place or even that EA could be bothered to integrate it with the Windows installed app screen in Settings. Most programs have a repair button next to the uninstall button but not EA! What is irritating is that I was looking for a repair function as soon as I saw the problem but could not find it, it certainly would have prevented this particular trip down the DLL rabbit hole .

    Anyway it seems to be sorted now, and thank for taking the time to help.

@CamdenGuy  Rather than reinstalling Sims 4, you can simply uninstall the VC++ runtimes from 2015 or newer, all versions listed, and install fresh copies.  Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, click on any version from 2015 or later, and select Uninstall.  Don't touch the older versions.  You can download the newest runtimes directly from Microsoft:

You'll need both the x86 and x64 versions of the 2015-2022 runtimes, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device.  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.
