@jupkmn I've merged your post with the master thread for this issue. It's purely cosmetic in that it has no effect on the game, but if you want to know why it's happening, this thread has an explanation.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go to The Sims 4 folder in documents and check the gameversion file.
What happens when the bug occurs? The gameversion file does not correctly display the game version number, displaying strange characters.
What do you expect to see? I hope to be able to view the game's version number without having to open The Sims 4 and check it through the main menu.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.

It has been a while since it has been possible to view the game version number in the 'gameversion' file, located in documents\electronic arts\the sims 4. When opening the file, instead of showing the game's version number, some strange characters have shown. I know this issue is not from the most recent update, however, I can't say specifically how long it has been occurring.
I also can't say if this is a problem that only occurs in the language of the game I play in, which in this case is Brazilian-Portuguese BPT.
I want to know what the latest game version I have is, but since the latest update, the GameVersion Text Document just says what amounts to gibberish for me: ⸱〱⸸㐳⸹〱〲 . I thought it could be Japanese or a Chinese language, but when I searched various translation websites, they all came up with nothing. I checked with and without mods installed, nothing has made a difference. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!
Thank you! Is there a way to make wordpad my default for this .txt file specifically? I only have this problem with this specific file, in The Sims 4. I used to be able to open it with notepad just fine, until relatively recently. Sorry if this is a dumb question..
