When I save my progress, exit the game, and reopen, my progress is lost

First post ever on here. When I save my game, exit, and reopen, the households and changes to lots I've made have reverted to the original Cottage Living pack as it appears when unplayed. So far I have cleared up disk space on my computer, removed mods and CC, and repaired the Sims 4 from origin with no luck. Is this a known issue I haven't been able to find the thread for? Or is this new? I just want to be able to save my progress..

Thanks

  • @chelssomers  It doesn't look like your Sims 4 data is being synced to OneDrive, but it's easy enough to check anyway:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/choose-which-onedrive-folders-to-sync-to-your-computer-98b8b011-8b94-419b-aa95-a14ff2415e85

For now though, please instead try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet; just start a new save, change one thing (e.g. place a lot from the Gallery or your library), save your progress, quit, restart your computer, reload, and see whether the change you made is still present.

If the change was preserved, you can try copying over one of your saves and doing the same thing.  Let me know whether it works.

And if you happen to get an error message while moving files around, please take a screenshot and post it as you did with this last one.

  • Hey @chelssomers,
when you open Origin, hit Origin, select Application settings and look in "INSTALLATIONS AND PLAYBOARDS" if the cloud saving is enabled.
    If not do so.
  • @chelssomers  Do all the changes you make revert, or just the ones to the Cottage Living world?  Do you use OneDrive, and if so, is it set to automatically sync the contents of Documents?

@Rotblut  Cloud saving is not supported for Sims 4.

Hey, so I just edited a lot in Sulani and also in the new Henford and Bagley world. Saved, exited, reopened, and it's all reverted.

I don't think I use onedrive but I very well may. How would I check this?

Thank you so much for your help. I've lost sooo much progress ☹️

@puzzlezaddict Okay, so removing the sims 4 folder from the documents and then starting a new one has worked so far! I'll experiment with adding the saves again and post if I have some errors. Thank you SO MUCH!
