white screen after starting the game

hey!

I try to run sims 4 for months now and everytime i try to start sims 4 it gives me a white screen. I hear the sims music and see my sims mouse, but still keeps the white screen. Saw many other topics about this but not one of the solutions seems to work. I don't have any mods installed. Tried to repair the game and EA app. I attached the dxdiag if that helps. I just want to play the sims ☹️

@madpandabritte  Please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time when you tried to open the EA App after reinstalling it.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

Please also let me know what antivirus you use.

  • @madpandabritte  The dxdiag does help, and it would have been my first request, so thanks for providing it.  The Sims 4 errors it lists are pretty generic but are often related to graphics.  Your laptop's graphics drivers are very recent and should be fine (although that's never a certainty), but perhaps the screen resolution isn't getting along with Sims 4.  So try launching the game in windowed mode.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open Options.ini, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

If that doesn't help, please uninstall the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) and reinstall it.  The dxdiag also lists a few App-related errors, which may not be affecting Sims 4, but this is an easy troubleshooting step.

If that doesn't help either, please move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto the desktop, and try again to play.  You'd need to redo the Options.ini edit after the first time you launched the game, that is if you get a white screen again.

    Hi @madpandabritte,

It's been a while, we're hoping that means the advice @puzzlezaddict shared about checking for errors was insightful, set you on the right course, and starting up the game has been white-screen-free since. 🙂

We're going to wrap up this discussion for now, but if there's anything more you'd like to share or ask, don't hesitate to start a new thread or jump into an active one and we'll do our best to help with recommendations.

    Thanks and happy Simming o/
