Why can´t my sim play a multiplayer game on their console

Help!

My sims is trying to play a multiplayer game with his daughter on their console. Everytime i try this the other sim starts to play but the other one can´t join the game. She is waving her hand that she cant walk there, and the thought bubble is saying the no walking sing or what ever it is with the foot prints and a red cross. I have tried to move the console and moving other stuff near it but nothing works. The same happened with the mailbox. There was no problem picking up the mail previously, and suddenly they started yelling they can´t reach it even tho i haven´t moved it. I dont have any mods in my game.
