If the install from disc didn't start automatically using the DVD, please try this:
1. Insert The Sims 4 Disc 1.
2. Windows should automatically open an AutoPlay prompt. Select "Run Autorun.exe" if asked.
2. a) If Windows doesn't automatically open AutoPlay, go to Computer (Windows Vista, 7, and 8) or My Computer (Windows XP)
2. b) Right-click the DVD Drive and select either "Install or run program from your media" or "Open AutoPlay". If AutoPlay, select "Run Autorun.exe".
3. When you see the screen below, click 'Continue'.
4. After you click 'Continue', Origin will open automatically in a few seconds.
4. a). As necessary, Log In or Register a new account if you don't have one.
5. Once Origin is logged in, it will automatically start installing The Sims 4 from the disc.
It's important that you start the install process from the DVD Autorun, going through the screen shown at Step 3 above. This step tells Origin that you want to do a disc install instead of a download.
I did all of those things and it still required me to download it for 3 hours before it would finally install. I eventually got it to work but it took 3 hours. It was utterly frustrating.
