Why is sims 4 disabling my ESC key from time to time?

I honestly don't know how to test it outside of sims without booting up another game, it started working again after pressing the windows key a couple of time (mostly to check in on the forum) 

Anyway i can remember that the three dots still worked when the ESC button didn't work.
