Will I be able to transfer all my Sims 4 DLCs to Steam from Origin???

If I purchase Sims 4 deluxe again on Steam this time, will I be able to transfer all my Sims 4 DLCs to Steam from Origin?

  • @SLYFOX7  Yes, if you buy the game in Steam, your Origin-bought packs will also work.  The way this goes is, when you buy Sims 4 in Steam, you're required to link your Steam account to an Origin account.  Steam will then recognize the packs you own in Origin and allow them to load when you launch from Steam.

However, Origin will still run in the background every time you play Sims 4, even while you're launching from Steam.  And if you decide you don't like playing through Steam and want to go back to Origin, you'll have to do some maneuvering to get Origin to allow you to play without Steam running again, even if you own all your content in Origin.  So it's only a good idea to start playing through Steam if you're sure you won't want to switch back.  And if Origin isn't working correctly for you now, it may continue to not work correctly even while you're playing through Steam.

  • It turns out that I entered these codes on two different accounts and I didn't even notice. I will try contacting live support. Thanks!

@ohwowlauren  When you've installed Sims 4 through Steam, sign into the EA App, open your game library, click Sims 4, select Manage > Manage Add-ons, and click Download next to the names of any packs you own through the EA App.  To be clear, you're not downloading the Sims 4 base game, only the packs.

  • Hi, I was wondering, if after linking them - am I able to buy the remaining packages through Steam or do I have to continue adding them through Origin?

Also, in doing this my Toddler Stuff & Desert Luxe expansions have decided to stop at 14%. It just says Download Error & to try again later. I've tried clearing the cache, clicking repair on the game in Origin, run it all as Administrator, and restarted my computer but none of that worked... Do you happen to know a fix for this?

  • @mlshay  Substitute the EA App where I said Origin, since Origin no longer works in Windows.  (This thread is somewhat old.). The idea is that when you install Sims 4 through Steam, you can download any packs you own in the EA App directly from the EA App as well, and they'll combine with the Steam install.  This doesn't work in reverse though: you can't download the packs you own in Steam when you've installed Sims 4 through the EA App.

If you're still confused, try it and see how it works for yourself.  Or don't use Steam at all, if you don't already own content there.  It's simpler to only use the EA App.

Hello as of July 2024 Is it still true that if I purchase base game on steam that I can import expansions bought from origin. Also do we know if this still works when done on Mac?

    Thank you!

@danislilstar  No Steam content will work in macOS.  Everything needs to be owned in the EA App, or Origin if your version of macOS is too old to support the App.

The base game is free, so you can redeem it in the EA App without involving Steam.
