Solved

"Your download has been Paused."

All right. I’ve just escaped a brutal work load over the past month and came back to give Sims 4 another go now that I’ve heard pools are back in. Problem! I load up origins and try to update Sims 4, but result in the error message: "Origins needs to download files and is waiting for permission. Please choose "yes" when windows prompts you for permission." Only windows never prompts me for anything. The download just cancels. I’ve researched this issue now. One suggest was to try reinstalling Origin. Another was to try repairing the game. A third was making sure my game had Administrator privilege over my computer’s security protection. I’ve done ALL of these, I’ve tried each of them. They’ve not worked. At this point I’m considering trying to uninstall and reinstall Sims 4 completely, but I’m concerned I won’t even be able to re-download the game at this rate! Can anyone help me out with this, give me some clue what I need to do in order to play the game again?

Simple, remove origin, reboot, re-install but don't tick invisible when you put login email.

    Thank you very much!

    It's finally downloading THANK YOU 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳

  • @mk_foxx Try disable Origin Client Service in the Services Control Panel or using msconfig. That temporary solved the problem for people that recently had trouble downloading anything with Origin.

It is caused by the Origin client can't communicate successfully with OriginClientService.exe which is supposed to run as a service using System account.

If you disable that service, Orign client will ask for your permission to grant it access to create and write folder/files. And that'll allow games or update to download and install.

This is probably work until next Origin update.
