"Your Game Failed to Launch"

So today I updated my Sims game because I haven't been able to play because of work and after an hour I finally was able to launch it, only to immediately get a "Your Game Failed to Launch" notification. I updated my mods, same message. I removed my mods, same message. I also got a message saying something like "your game has been installed on another device" but I didn't do that. I then tried to repair the game and it didn't work- like straight up when I clicked repair nothing happened. I turned on and off my computer as well. This is really frustrating- was anyone able to fix this problem? The EA app sucks.
