Can't install The Sims 2 on Windows 7 or 10
I have tried to install The Sims 2 both on our desktop with Windows 10 and our laptop that has Windows 7. On both computers I get the following error message:
"A problem occurred when trying to transfer the file groups.cache from the media. Do you want to retry to copy the file, or cancel the installation"? When I click cancel it suddenly says the game is installed but then the game doesn't work. My husband downloaded a file for the Windows 10 desktop that was supposedly going to fix the issue and we got the game to start but then there were no pre-made neighborhoods and I couldn't make my own because there were no terrain files...
Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone been able to fix it? Thank you so much in advance!
Hi @bertilsson88,
You are trying to install the game using a disk, right? In that case, I would recommend getting in contact with one of our advisers so they can turn your physical copy of the game into a digital copy in Origin.
That should help with the installation in newer computers 🙂
You can contact one of our advisers through EA Help, they will be able to check what's wrong, and help you with this issue.
You will find a detailed explanation on how to contact them if you need it here.
Cheers,
