Check your systems compatibility

Look up if your system is vulkan compatible. If not do not buy 1 at this time. If you already have bought it, hopefully you can get a refund. It's always possible it will be updated to not need vulkan in the future, but that is not the case now.

    Hi there,

Sorry to be such a noob, but how does one check for vulkan compatibility?

    Thanks,

Google "is <insert graphics device name> vulkan compatible"

  • Gotist  There are lots of Vulkan-compatible devices throwing this error, so that's not the main cause.  And the minimum requirements for Sims 1 appear to specify Vulkan-compatible GPUs even if it's not expressed in precisely that way.  Put another way, the minimum 600-series Nvidia GPUs all support Vulkan.

But they don't all support 1.4. I don't get the change from specifying what api is needed. If DirectX version x.x requirement is a thing, it only makes sense to do the same for Vulkan version x.x requirements. Particularly since Vulkan is not just about the device, but the os used too

Add:: also this is about systems that are vulkan incompatible, not systems that vulkan devices aren't being found. But like with the 620, it's compatibility is limited (at least on windows, Linux seems pretty reliable for vulkan though) and may not be able to use the most recent version of vulkan
