I think one of the most annoying thing about TS3 open neighbourhoods was the constant loading of stuff. If I took my sim across the road or across the town it was the same thing and sometimes even switching the view the other direction I would get those texture and mesh loading moments where everything was a shapeless grey blob. I also hated all the empty public lots every time I visited, it felt like my sims were living in a ghost town.
