It doesn't seem to affect Maxis in any larger way. The same people still seem to be in charge.
It could maybe help them set expectations when it comes to their budget by being more clear that EA Entertainment is now a separate division from EA Sports and that they work differently and they don't release a new game every year. Them changing the name from EA Games to EA Entertainment makes me wonder what more they would like to do.
But overall it should be a positive thing, EA is becoming too large which never tends to be a good thing for the consumer and them splitting up could maybe be a good thing.
