It's Friday again, and For Rent has finally launched! Have you all been enjoying exploring around Tomarang? Have you visited the night market and wandered over to Tinsu Temple, or have you been more focused on building the perfect rental lot? Have you been snooping on your new neighbors? I want to hear about everything you've been up to so far!


Just in case you missed all the hot news we had this week:

• On Tuesday, a new patch was released which included a few gameplay updates like sink assignments, and the ability to switch your active household directly from Live Mode! For a full list of everything included with this patch, be sure to read up on the notes here!
  

• On Thursday, the newest expansion pack, For Rent, was finally released! Be sure to join us in the Official For Rent Screenshot Thread to show off all your fancy new rental units (water heaters included) and the beautiful new world of Tomarang!
  

• And just a quick reminder: Next week will be our final Friday Highlights thread for the year of 2023. No worries - we'll be resuming highlights as normal starting the week of January 12th (and we may or may not have been cooking up something fun to keep y'all entertained in the meantime... 🙃)

Ready to sail into this week's highlights?

• With so many new gameplay features, a brand new world, and an entire new lot type, we're bound to have tons of questions about For Rent. Don't fret, because @EmmaVane has once again got us covered in this enlightening and informational For Rent Q&A! Curious about how many rented units you can build per lot? Or maybe you're wondering how to change the rent prices for each unit? And exactly how do you get rid of that pesky mold? No matter what questions you may have, this Q&A has all the answers you need, plus more!
  

• Since we've been on the subject of For Rent, up next we have another fun Did You Know discussion started by @catloverplayer to share all the hidden surprises and fun secrets you come across in Tomarang! Did you know that your pools can become infested with algae? Or that you can use canoes and jet skis from Island Living to sail around and explore the world? Have you seen the turtles, stingrays and sharks swimming throughout Shih Sea? No matter what new and exciting discoveries you make, be sure to share them with us! 🦈⛵
  

• And for our Sims 3 players - @soocoolsim has created a brand new building challenge, this time to test your skills with designing and renovating a small mobile home shell. You'll have the option to choose either a 15x10 shell, or if you're really looking for a challenge, a 10x10 shell. There are just a few rules you'll need to follow, like providing basic living necessities for your Sim, and a total max budget allowance. All builds will need to be submitted by December 18th, so if this challenge looks like something you want to try, be sure to check it out!
  

• While browsing the forums this week looking for some build inspiration, I came across this wonderfully eye-catching Base Game Apartment Complex, created by @Lixy_170. This ultra-modern complex includes 5 fully furnished and individually decorated apartments, and 1 empty duplex, ready for you to decorate as you like. Your tenants will also have access to a large outdoor patio with a pool, BBQ pit, and children's play area for endless entertainment. So if you're in need of a new complex to start your career as a landlord in For Rent, you'll definitely want to check this build out! 🏙️
  

• With all of us frantically building new high rises, penthouses and apartments with For Rent, @Atreya33 has a few questions for those of us playing as a landlord on how we've all been furnishing our units. I like to decorate based on my tenants preferences, so each unit starts with only basic furnishing and once I've got to know that tenant a bit more, I'll fully decorate according to each individual personality. But how are you planning on furnishing for each tenant? Will you give them only the basic necessities and wait for your tenant to decorate themselves? Or are you planning to build and decorate based on your tenant's specific budget? Be sure to tell us how you'll be creating each unit in your rental!🛋️🖼️
