I own original Sims 1 & Sims 2, why do I have to buy it again?

I already own the original Sims 1 & Sims 2 plus most of the packs for them.
Why do I have to buy it again to play it on my windows 11 computer?
If I've already bought them then why aren't the new versions free?

While I don't disagree with you, this is one of those "customer service" type questions that may be ignored here.  A short answer that I can give you is that they updated both Sims 1 and 2 to be more compatible with today's current PCs. Watching Dr.Gluon play both games, I saw they they looked refreshed and crisper.

Thank you for responding <3. Is there a better place to put this question? I paid a ton of money before to get all the Sims 1 and 2 expansions(as well as 3 and 4). There's no reason other than greed that they are asking those who bought it to pay again. I have been a loyal customer of EA and the Sims games. It's pretty crappy to try to get us to pay again, for what we've already paid thousands of dollars for.

I don't know, at the moment. Maybe try the codes in the EA app again?

You're paying for the work that it took them to adapt these games to run on Windows 10 and 11. If you don't want to pay because you aleady own older versions, you don't have to. But if you can no longer play the older versions on your computer that answers your question.

That said, there are so many issues with these games that I would not buy them until and unless they fix them.

  • I’m not sure if it still works this way but, If you have them on disc (sims 2) you can message the support team saying your discs no longer run properly, then they may ask for a picture of a disc with the serial code and a handwritten message, and then give you the ultimate collection for free. I did this about 4/5 years ago though so they may not do this now they’ve released it for sale.

Leydi_Tee LITERALLY told you. CUSTOMER SERVICE. Contact customer service. It's an issue they can resolve if possible not us on the forums.

Yeah, and I can see that without you also responding just to tell me what she said in rude yelling caps. Why are some people on the internet so rude and others are so kind and helpful? Did you have a bad day or something? Please don't come online to take it out on people.

The work to adapt them to Windows 10 and 11 really was minimal. I and others have paid hundreds of dollar for each game with all the packs.
It's greedy to ask for people to pay again. Especially for Sims 1 which really isn't a very good game when you compare it to the later Sims games. After watching people play it on youtube, I don't think I'd even want to play it. Sims 2 still looks interesting though.

Thank you for your answer! I do have them all on discs still. It's worth a try, but since they are trying to get people to buy these again, that probably will be a deciding factor.
