What's wrong with just regular sign ups? We're all here pretty often (read as: always) and we're pretty good at snagging spots. We're informed of when sign-ups are, and if we're going to miss them, we can talk to the host and beg to reserve a spot, like the shameless addicts we are. Reserving spots based on votes and lottos is the beginning of an ugly, dividing road, I think. It reeks of "not fair!" in my opinion, even if it really is fair.
