For me, all EA has to do is combine the best aspects of The Sims 2 with the best aspects of The Sims 3, remove the worst aspects of both the games and wrap it in The Sims 4 art style with a little more detail to meshes and textures. Add in the new custom furniture system and actually deliver smarter sims that they promised for the Sims 4. That's all, and I would love it.
My concern is with the multi-player, multi-platform, and social aspects they want to add and how they might try to monetize the game.
So I will sit on the sidelines and watch how this new installment to The Sims develops. As for right now, I will not buy anymore packs for The Sims 4. I won't even play the game. I will wait until the series is complete and start playing it again and buying the remaining packs when Project Rene launches.
I will not even download the free-to-play base game, because I don't want to be enticed into buying into the game with all the extra content they will offer for sale. Instead I will be playing TS4 and Life By You and watching other simmers play Project Rene/The Sims 5. The base game would have to be really compelling to get me install it at launch. I mean mind-blowing compelling, not great future potential compelling.
