This is only one reason I enjoy TS2 more than the others. Because I wasn't playing simself (ever) I was running the lives of Sims in a game. Once Maxis decided to move away from a god game to a Simself /avatar game I lost all interest in the series' future.
It was more enjoyable to me for Sims to give me a thumbs up if they liked what had just happened and or frown and whine at me if they weren't in the mood to watch TV or whatever. Also, to tell me in a popup 'can't you see I'm too depressed to do that (skill grinding)'.
I wasn't the Sim, and some Sims were smarter and interacted with the camera more than others. I won't ever forget when Mr. Big in TS2 walked into one of my community lots turned off the TV and turned to look at camera and winked at me. I was annoyed because my Sims were watching that TV but he obviously felt there were better things to do there. lol
And to ask me if they should take that job. I was in control. Aware of someone in control because can you imagine asking yourself if you should take a job offer? lol Maxis lost me the moment they no longer consider the game a god game.
