Project Rene (The Sims 5) speculation time

Alright, here we are again. It's been more than 8 years since the release of the 4th generation of The Sims and now here we are - officially speculating about the 5th generation of the game (Project Rene). I personally think they will call it The Sims 5, especially if its going to have DLCs (EPs and SPs). Now lemme ask all of you - when do you think we will hear more about it + when will they announce it as a Sims game + release date ? I personally think they will call it The Sims 5 (as i said xD), we will hear more about it next year (3-4 times), it will get officially announced as The Sims 5 on a big gaming event (E3, gamescom) in 2024 with a release date of 2025 - 2(5)th anniversary of The Sims, 202(5), The Sims (5). All those 5s xD.

*Also - a really possible timeline is everything above but +1 year (2025 announcement, 2026 release)

But Project Rene could also be a reboot.
Maybe the studio would like to refresh the stories of Bella Goth and others for Gen Z/Gen Alpha players.

The original universe also lacks of diversity. For example the relationships are only heterosexual.
It's the opposite of the public image that EA is building for The Sims franchise.

The original universe can always be updated with new Maxis-made families to add diversity. That's a simple fix. My point is that the return to the lore and canon is a welcome one given the much-maligned "alternate timeline" of the Sims 4.

No need to rewrite fundamental characteristics, relationships, and timelines. Continue the history and build on the foundation.

Sims 3 added a backstory to the events of Sims 1 and 2. Now for the future.

My prediction is that the Narrative Producers working on Project Rene will have the perspicacity and prudence to grasp the lore and continue the timeline into the beyond with Maxis-made events and storylines immediately following those of the Sims 2.

    Best of luck!

But who will remember the name of the new characters ?
For example who remember the name of the gay couple in EP04 Cats & Dogs or EP11 Cottage Living.

These characters never become main roles, they are extras that nobody notice. It's not really a strong message of diversity.

It won't be surprising if the studio decide to change the lore because TV shows already do that.

For example Amber character in Invincible.
    Original vs TV series

Um no? None of the sims characters in the pass sims games are main characters. They are characters that are there. That you can play as if you want, but the main character are sims we create or choose .

As for the reason no one remember the new diverse characters. Is because this is a problem in sims 4 in general. The new games characters in geral are not memorable .There stale and they have nothing really mind blowing about them.In sims 2 and 3 the npcs are more flesh out and have memorable backgrounds. If you look up sims lore the amount of detail they put in them in amazing.

I also would not want them to change the lore to make preexisting characters diverse .That sounds like bad idea.Just add new diverse and memorable families to the old lore.

Yes and no, Bella Goth, Mortimer Goth and Malcolm Landgraab are main characters of this universe. The lore is based on these families.
Agnes Crumplebottom (Mortimer's aunt) is even a special NPC.

They're not the main characters! There the ones that are most popular!.
  • This is my 'speculation'. Can a game really just have started its early stages if they already have beta testers for the Workshop? Food for thought...if that workshop includes things like creating objects for a game and allow those testers to share with others, wouldn't animations have to be already created for most of those objects? The 'simulation' of some things would already exist. Maxis would have already patented, copyrighted their tool a long time ago (possibly years ago...uh 2017?) in order to allow beta testers to give feedback.

I know Lyndsay said early stages, yeah, but their early stages are probably further along than what the average person thinks they have done. I'm going with what we heard, knew in 2017. I don't believe it just started this past year or even last year, but maybe five years ago.

If I remember correctly any demo that players got to play with, test, was about a year before release of the game.

Also, since I forgot, I think it's a cloud game, on servers, a money maker for game changers or whatever new name they are given to create and sell their creations to other players and one big fat competition of who is more popular with their creations and who is making more money for EA and being promoted (favs) and more like some glorified mobile game that I won't be interested in that type of environment.

I really wish they continue the lore and mysteries from Sims 2. I think it would be really interesting to see for example Bella and Mortimer's grandchildren or Lilith Pleasant with Dirk Dreamer have a family together in the new game.

They could also mix it up meaning that they could also make descendants of returning families who were on TS3 or even TS4. :D

I can't tell you how much I want the Narrative Designers working on Project Rene to read this comment.
