@GSHgunner , at this time EA has no plans to remaster or re-release "The Sims" or Sims 2. While it would be nice, they have decided to focus their efforts on other projects. EA/Maxis is very aware of the interest in having these games remastered.
You do bring up some good points, and seemed informed enough, but I would like to point out, like I did in my opening message, that EA did remaster Command & Conquer, very recently in fact in Jun last year, and before that game's announcement of being remastered, I heard others say that before too, that EA were not focusing on remasters, but on brand new projects, but then seeming out of the blue C&C remaster was announced, so who is to say that it could also be the same for The Sims 1, and in your case The Sims 2 as well, which I liked both but 1 had a special place in time for me and many others too, a magic that is rarely captured again.
So what I am getting at is a The Sims 1 remaster could very well spring up out of nowhere like C&C remaster did, and others I have spoken to off this site do agree to the aforementioned as well, but thank you for your response none the less, the more this topic is spoken about the better for the series as a whole.
@GSHgunner , true, but I also wish to point out that it may never happen. If you look around not only this forum, but the Official Sims forums there are hundreds if not thousands of posts all asking for remasters of the game.
It may or may not happen, but again, I wish to set realistic expectations for the immediate future. 🙂
