Sounds like a graphics card issue.
If you're up-to-date with graphics card drivers, it means a recent update broke something.
If you haven't, it means a recent update might fix it.
It's hard to tell nowadays, when graphics card manufacturers don't really care about games that use DirectX 9.0c or older...
