Should previous Sims 1, 2 and 3 be updated to play easily?

As I move on and up in age, now retired for sometime, and been playing PC games for 30+ years and been playing the Sims since the Sims 1. I wonder what others think about previous Sim games and wanti...

I paid a fortune for Sims 1,2 and 3 plus all the game manuals as well. I sometimes feel that it's Microsoft's fault as well as Maxis/EAs. No wonder people didn't want to get rid of their Windows XP machines. That OS was more sympathetic to older games and even Windows 7 was ok.
Nowadays Microsoft just admits airily that some of our games won't play on Windows 10 or 11. Grrh. :s :'(
