But it's not particularly Norse-sounding. Which lends itself to the setting being somewhere in the US, instead of Norway proper. I think the Minnesota theory is the most likely currently.
Part of the name "Aval" DOES come from Old Saxon (which I believe the Nordic and Germanic languages are derived from if I remember correctly) so while the town name could still be based in the US, it definitely seems to confirm that it will be somewhere with Nordic ties.
