This is going to sound weird, but to me the forum has never been about communicating with the simgurus. It was always about giving and receiving help and inspiration from fellow simmers.
And yes, due to the dominance of Social Media the simgurus connect with players much less on the forums then they do on Twitter, but this is not a phenomenon specific to The Sims.
