I went to launch the game, and it didn't even start. It popped up the icon, and nothing happened. it only brought me back to the EA page, I know there is a fix for when the game crashes, but is there a fix for when the game doesn't even open?

Same here.. I purchased it through Epic Games (since for some reason, EA App doesn’t accept my card), and I was getting a 16-bit support error. Unfortunately, I couldn’t even access the game. This wasn’t a great anniversary gift at all—sadly, my excitement was ruined.

I'm having the same issue. I've restarted the app, cleared the cache and rebooted my PC, I tried to run as administrator and changed compatibility to Windows 7 - as suggest by EA chat support. NOTHING has worked. So we're all just giving EA money for an inaccessible game?!
My game starts, I start playing. It crashed once I was on my second save. I tried again, played for not longer than 5 minutes, saved and crashed. I knew I shouldn't have spent the money on EA.

Please try uninstalling all your 2015 and newer VC++ runtimes (not the older ones, leave those alone), and reinstalling both the 2022 x86 and x64 versions. More detailed instructions are here:
