Sims 2 Disappearing Save/Neighboorhood

I play The Sims 2 on Mac with the Super Collection. I have been playing Strangetown for a month and had not encountered issues with this neighborhood prior till today. I only have one CC clothing item installed. I tried downloading some builds, but they caused the game to crash, so I removed them. I don't believe I've done anything that may have corrupted the game. The only strange behavior the game exhibited was a sim giving birth to twins when there were 7 sims in the household (meaning there were 9 sims in the household). Yesterday and today, sims started standing still, freezing, and clipping. It crashed once with saving (the 9 sims household). Today, I saved the game, and it froze, making me force quit the application. When I opened it again after an hour and a restart, the save was gone, but the files were still in the Neighborhoods folder. Is there anything I can do to recover the save?

    Did you run Mootilda’s hoodchecker?

  • @Georgiapeach8 I don't play on Mac, but I believe it has a certain file limit. A birth of a Sim creates a new character file, twins means there were two created. Is it possible that your game reached that limit, especially with all Sims added with subhoods and stealth hoods (Pets, Weather)?
  • @Georgiapeach8 ,to my knowledge the limit for sim households has always been 8 Sims this includes pets which had separate files in Sims 2. Do you by chance have Time Machine running so that you may be able to go back to an earlier save of the game? Or perhaps make backups?

@Tremayne4260 Don't think I have Time Machine running at the moment. I still have all the files for the save but they do not show up in the game. Attached is a photo of the 9 sim household. I promise I have no mods so I have no idea how this happened.

@Georgiapeach8 , so you do have the previous files prior to the birth? Ok, move your current Sims 2 documents folder to your Desktop (do not copy or create a shortcut) to allow the game to create a new Sims 2 folder. Your saved games will be safe in the folder on the Desktop. Start up the game to allow for the game to generate a new Sims 2 folder and start a new game just to make sure the game works like it should. You can save or not as you choose. I just want to make sure the game is running and not having other issues.

Let me know if the game runs ok with this new folder.

Update: It was running okay until I opened the game today. It took a very long time to load a household and froze a couple times (like the original neighborhood) but when it finally loaded, wants and fears were missing. Alexander Goth (child) had a romantic want. I know that this is a common result of corruption but I just started this game a week ago and I'm using clean templates. Photos are attached.

@Tremayne4260 And now it crashes when you enter the neighborhood. Thought it may be an issue with storage, because I only had about 500 MB on disk space left but I just freed up 14 GB

@mate54 Sorry for the late reply, as I just saw this. I don't believe so. I was only five rotations into rotational gameplay and only had Strangetown, a University, and the Vacation hoods in the save
