Sims 2 Double Deluxe

Good afternoon

I am unable to install my Sims 2 double deluxe disc version as the serial number on my booklet always receives the 'invalid registration code' error. I attempted to resolve via EA chat who advised that it is a sunset game and so are unable to help in any way (transcript attached).

Has anyone else figured a workaround to this? At the moment I am stuck with a game, plus 5 or so expansion packs that I legitimately purchase that I'm unable to play! I'm really disappointed.
