sims 2 pets go through my fences

I'm playing The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. I completely fenced in my lot but I noticed that the stray animals ignore the gate-less fences and come to the front door anyway. All my doors are locked to outsiders and stray pets. I have one cat, no gnomes or other things on my yard save for orange and lemon trees - oh, and my car. I don't mind the animals being on the sidewalk, but I do mind them bypassing fences that have no gates. Thanks in advance.

Update: I wanted to accept both replies as accepted solutions, but it seems that the forum won't let me do this. Apologies for that. I'm pretty new to using these forums.

  • @mysimsreality If I remember correctly, there is a sign you can put up to keep strays off your lot. (I might be thinking of Sims 1 too). It was under decorations.

I believe the sign is indeed from The Sims: Unleashed. Have you tried redoing the fences around the house?
If that fails, TwoJeffs' Visitor Controller mod might help you, Google should make it easy to find (of course, if you're not opposed to using mods in your game).

Thanks for the suggestion Tremayne. I shall certainly look under Decorations to see if it's there. I was just bothered that the animal went through a closed fence. Even game physics doesn't allow for that and that is what I found disturbing. 🙂

  • Mate54, I ended up redoing the fences after all. Thanks for the mod suggestion. I have not used mods since I stopped playing that game in 2007, but I will certainly keep your suggestion in mind. Thanks for the response! 🙂
