Sims 2 pets won't breed

Hey, I'm having a problem with the Sims 2: Pets. I made 4 pets, 2 cats and 2 dogs and I wanted them all to have puppies and kittens. However, when I tried getting the dogs to breed and try for puppies they did it but they came out with no melody and I was confused at first. I then tried it again to see if it would work but it didn't, all of their needs were up so I didn't know what was wrong. I kept trying and trying but it never worked, I tried with the two cats where I pressed "Try For Kittens With.." and I chose my cat and when they came out the female was pregnant. So, I was really really confused! The cat then gave birth days later in game, and when I tried to make the two dogs have puppies again, they just wouldn't come out with a melody. I started to worry if maybe there was a bug or something but there wasn't anything I could find that could've conflicted with it. If someone could suggest or help me with this problem that would be a lifesaver! Thank you! 🙂

@Tremayne4260 I finally knew why it wasn't working! It wasn't my custom content or anything it was because dogs/cats can't get pregnant when there is only 7 people or animals in a household. So, the female cat was pregnant and I tried over and over again to breed the two dogs and it wouldn't work but that is because the offspring that they can have is only 2 puppies I think. So, when the cats aged up into adults I gave one up for adoption then when I tried breeding the two dogs, it worked! I was so happy but so stupid at the same time because I still didn't know why it wasn't working but then I realised! Also, when the dog gave birth I decided to give my male kitten away that had just been born and keep the female. Before I did that though, I bred them together again but the female didn't get pregnant. I then gave up the male kitten for adoption and I tried breeding the two adult dogs again. It worked, so that's why it didn't work. I'm so sorry for wasting your time on thinking how to fix it!

  • @teddyswirl1 , the same thing happens with human sims. There's a certain chance of getting pregnant (like say 1 out of 3 times) so not every time they "woo-hoo" will result in pregnancy. I would guess the same chances are in pets as well.

@Tremayne4260 I tried getting the dogs pregnant a day later but they just won't get pregnant. They're relationship is to 100 on both romantic and friends, I don't know what the problem is but it's never happened before. I have tried over and over again but they will Try For Puppies but the female just doesn't get pregnant. The cats got pregnant 1-2 times of trying for kittens with... I don't know what the problem is..?

@teddyswirl1 , are you using any mods? They could be causing interference preventing the pregnancy. If you are, try removing just the mods. Check the sites where you got the mods to see if there is a more recent version.

Just trying to think of why this is happening.

@teddyswirl1 , I'm so glad it finally worked for you. 🙂 And no question wastes my time. I'm happy to help any time and I'd rather people enjoy the games they love and have them running properly.

I'm here if you need anything else. Happy Simming!
