Sims 3 Medival

I purchased the Sims 3 Medieval Special Edition. I am able to download the base game but I am not able to download the Pirates and Nobles game. Also when I open the base game the start screen was no background or start button. Can someone please take me through the necessary steps to fix these problems. Thank you.
