I know. It's concerning. I don't want a cloud game. - Rambley_RaccoonSeasoned NewcomerHow about we stop jumping to conclusions and actaully see what Sims 5 will be like when it comes out? I highly doubt EA/Maxis wants to risk losing loyal customers with any subscrption service, unless EA/Maxis WANTS to lose money. I don't really see EA/Maxis being foolish enough to makes Sims 5 a subscription service.

This is a speculation thread. It's just analyzing the CEO's own statement. No one is saying it's definitive, only that it doesn't look great. "Lady_Ballora;c-18197188" wrote:

it's not about jumping to conclusions, we are just letting ea know that we don't want this in case they consider it.

i hope this is a mistake and that sims 5 will not be subscription base because there no way i went to pay for a subcription as well as paying full price for the sims5 no to a subcription service in the sims5 if i went a cloud type game might as well play an ipad game - SEREFRASSeasoned VeteranThey can have it. I'll stick to my Sims 3, Sims 4 & Civilization VI. Plus, when I can afford it, Disney Dreamlight Valley. I prefer to choose to play other online or offline.
- logionXSeasoned HotshotCloud gaming generally refers to making use of servers to stream a game to a device, also called game streaming.
Cross-Platform is a general term for being able to run the same software like game on multiple devices. In gaming it is often mentioned when they are enabling players to play a multiplayer game together on different devices, like a PS5 and a PC.
If Project Rene would be making use of Cloud gaming, there would be no point in making it cross-platform. You would just be able to stream the game on whatever device you would like. - If they go the route of a subscription only basis, I won't be buying. I know other games have done well with that but I'm just not interested (and I don't play any of those games). I'm not interested in "social interaction or competition" either. I'd just like them to make a life simulation sandbox game and leave me be to play it.
- SimCity was a complete disaster at launch because of its online only requirement. A cloud-based game would be like, 10x worse. Heck, Square Enix made a Kingdom Hearts cloud-based game on the Switch. It's a disaster.
