Sims medieval can't install

I'm trying to install the sims medieval but installation fails at 96/97% every time with the below error:

Error: The VC++ runtime redistributable package was not installed successfully. Setup cannot continue

I have tried running the vc redistributable .exe(s) from the install folder and repairing each but it isn't fixing the issue.

I have also cleared the EA app cache and tried installing programs directly from the MS website

yeah was hoping this would help, removed them all and downloaded them from the microsoft website but same issue. wondering if i missed one possibly but i noticed that the sims medieval has like a lot of versions and updates so it is a lil hard to keep track to be honest.

i assume there is no harm having an extra so i will just install all of them and hope!

Sims Medieval's installer hasn't been updated in a very long time, certainly longer ago than the newest update for the 2005 runtime, so it's not a surprise that Medieval's copy of the runtime installer wouldn't be compatible with a newer system.

And it's also worth removing all your 2015 and newer VC++ runtimes and replacing them with the x86 and x64 2022 versions, just in case the App is tripping over that and not the 2005 version.

i tried redownloading the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package for x86 systems already. in the sims medieval download there are multiple versions but at least one cant run saying it isn't compatible with my processor

  • 0riginalBambi  Which programs did you try installing from the Microsoft website?  I don't know about Sims Medieval, but Sims 3 has the same game engine and requires the 2005 x86 runtime, not any of the others.  (The EA App does require the newest ones, x86 and x64.)  And you'd want to remove your existing version, under Windows Settings > Apps, before installing a fresh copy.
