Sims Medieval issue with Windows 8 and the patch
OK, I've been at this a couple days now :womanfrustrated: so let me walk you through... No at first I didn't relies the windows 8 doesn't like games from windows 7 and below even some windows XP games aren't liked. BUT! you can get around that, YEP I didn't know until yesterday but ya can!
With windows 8 if you put your mouse to the top right side of the screen a side bar slides out. Nest put you mouse on the search button and click, you screen will turn blue and a small search window will pop up on the top right hand corners this is ok it's normal.
type Compat, it's short for compatibility (spelling sucks) from that search box got to the second button down it will settings and have a little 1 to the right of it.
click it and one option will appear on the left hand of the screen, "Run programs maid for previous versions of windows" :catlol: I saw that the first time I was saying holly crap! this is awesome!!! and it was.
I hand purchased and successfully downloaded Sims Medieval on amazon.com at first I simply went to the launcher and it said right off the bat "there is an update for your game would you like to update now?" Of course I said (YES)
Who wouldn't?
BUT after it was done loading the update I went and ckicked play and it looked like it was loading for a second THEN.... nothing that 's right VIP I was so pissed I was starring at my screen for five min before it really sunk in that nothing was happening. So I do what everyone else has done I open the launcher and hit play all ready for it to work this time! but I hear a "bing" and a message pops up... Sims Medieval is already running shut the program before trying to open it again... I was pissed! so I went down to me tool bar at the bottom of the screen and right clicked to get my task manager to pop up and sure enough... there it was sims medieval suposidly "RUNNING".
So I thought the same thing any one else would compatibility, bad download, upgrade graphics, clear junk folders, look for floating bionary junk on my mainframe.... all that fun crap.
but after deleting reloading five time, removing all junk and temps, getting my comp cleaned and checked 12 yes 12 times until it was coming up clean on first scan, and restarting my computer so much that I was seeing spots from starring at the screen I finely realized something...
I always hit to update the game right off the bat...
"O... K..... fine! I wont update that Dam thing!" I say to my self
so, one more time delete, clear temp, defrag hard drive, clean disk, clear history, restart comp, reload game... change the systems compatibilite to run the game in windows XP.... and when it said would you like to update no I said (NO)
So I do all that again I'm on 12hrs of working on this without break of food at this point and totally pissed off ready to abandon this game all together when I click PLAY... it looks like its loading and then... My screen goes black.
I freak out for a second until I see the spinning loading sing down at the bottom and I relies that it's loading! And just like that the game pops up and goes through the opening seen and loads and I get to play it for a couple hours before work and I exausted buy the end of my shift but I'm still elaited because I got it to work!! Woohoo!!! and I bought the extention to play the pirates and royals so this is great!! so what do I do?
load up my copy of Pirate and Nobel as fast as my fingers can fly naturally! but after download my copy I go to install it and It says, "your sims Medieval version has an update ready, it Must be updated Before this process can be completed... so still buzzing from actually playing my medieval game and passing the first quest what do I do? Update and finish install my game patch naturally.
So I go to open my game and it looks like it's going to load and then nothing, I look all over my screen I can see the short cut for the sims launchers on my desktop but... nothing.
First response was. "Oh HELL NO"
but sure enough I open up my task manager and there is sims medieval running but not running. so I end program change compatibility to the recommended windows XP setting and then run the compat. check and it says "UNCOMPATIBAL"... Now I'm sitting here think what did I do to deserver this! I'm going back every thing I did remembering that I was just playing!! Just before work it was running fine it loaded quick ran smoothly, no glitches, great graphics no lagging the only, ONLY freaking thing I did was UPDATE it witch it said I HAD TO DO to play my pirates and noble game extension...
and then I think to my self... the game played when it wasn't updated...
when I first loaded my game (before I downloaded my pirates and noble expansion) I updated right off the bat and would you know it didn't work...
hum... I was playing... I update... I can't play... I WAS PLAYING ... I update... I can't play... Before I tried to play I up dated and I couldn't play... I delete and reload the game and say not to update and I get to play... I buy the expansion because my game is so awesome!! it FORCES me to update the update that I skipped the last time so I could play and then after the update .... IT DOSN"T WORK....
This is beyond messed up I have WASTED OVER 30 hrs just to find out that it's not my comp. and it's not the game it's your guys' freaking UP DATE that is preventing me from enjoying my totally awesome game!!!
so I'm going to delete my game... AGAIN... and reload ... AGAIN... correct the compatibility with my windows 8... Again... and then I'm just going to leave the dam update OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

something in the patch is making the game not work on my comp. :womantongue:
