@accaliajayne , The Sims Medieval shares a similar game architecture to Sims 3. Have you been able to save at all prior to the game giving you "Error Code 16"? Not sure what version of Windows you are playing on, but here is a link to the meaning of the various Error codes shared by Sims 3 and Sims Medieval. It also gives you suggestions on how solve the issue.

Another thing to try is to move the Sims Medieval folder (found Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims Medieval) to your Desktop. Do not copy, do not create a shortcut, actually move it to your Desktop and allow for the game to generate a new folder when starting up. Granted your saved games will not be present at this time, but start up a new game and play for about an hour to see if it will allow you to save.
