I miss any information about the future of The Sims 4. In the past they were saying "many, many years" at least at now? We have plenty of rumors but no real news.

Would you have wanted a social component for The Sims Mobile? Would that have made it any more successful? I don't think it would have made any difference.
I wish the developers would just stop beating a dead horse already.

Read through the entire thing and all this "statement" did was confirm my negative impression of where the franchise is headed. Nothing in this statement gives me any hope and the devs have still lost any trust I might have still had. If they stay with the status quo, I will continue to speak with my wallet. I haven't purchased any new content for 2 years and change now.

I didn't play Sims Mobile enough and didn't like the game mechanics and the small screen, don't think a social component would have made much difference for me. But there have been many simmers asking for multiplayer and a social component to the game and I'd rather they add it to a separate mobile game than the main single player game.

The franchise has only ever been s single-player game for me. I don't like or play games with online multi-player, so including that will just mean I refuse to purchase or play it. I tried the Sims mobile game for about 20 minutes and got bored with the game mechanics. I uninstalled it after that. They can make a multi-player version, but I am not sure they will have much of a player base.

We’ll continue to deliver content and updates to The Sims 4 and we are committed to improving the experience.
I guess this confirms that Sims 4 isn't ending (?). Or at least we will continue to get content, but it doesn't really say anything about there being a last pack. I just hope there will be more packs because there is still content that hasn't been added yet.

These values won't change ... in the next 3 or 6 months.
After that , Andrew Wilson could be replaced by a new CEO, the main investor will have a full control of the company.
I would say right now Maxis doesn't even know their own future.
Before Andrew Wilson became EA CEO in 2013, Project Olympus was a multiplayer game. Everything can change suddenly in a few months.

BioWare's Anthem live service was also supposed to exist for many years ... until EA change their mind.
RIP Anthem (2019 - 2021), servers shutdown in 2026

Good to hear that their values are unchanged, I fear that whatever happens regarding that is beyond anyone's control though.
I am hoping that the Project X rumors are true and that we will see a new entry this year, even when I bought and played a good expansion pack Adventure Awaits it didn't really change much. I bought The Sims 4 back in 2014 so the game is just old now.
Single-player is the way to go, I don't really understand the appeal with playing a sims game in multiplayer, it would also prevent modding, fast forwarding and other things that makes a life simulator fun. I'm not interested in project Rene but if they want to give it a go at making a Roblox-like sims game then go for it I guess.
We’re excited to share more about what we’re cooking up…as we've all learned from The Sims - a good grilled cheese takes time (and no fires!)
Hoping to see and hear more from that, don't burn the grilled cheese.

I'm not worried for TS4, it's an old title likely getting less attention anyway. New owners can't do much to change the past. But for a next series the business model might be slightly different. Time will tell...
