The Sims 1-2 Remasters (Thank you EA)

I'm happy that EA finally doing something about their retro titles that defined a generation. I visited the 2000s website you people created recently, feels like a awesome home I used to live there like decades ago which still welcomes me.

Still remember my discs that I got as a promotion from PCGamer magazine, I did everything to ask my father to have him install on his IBM Thinkpad Windows XP laptop. God, that was awesome, having such power in my side felt like I can play anything on that laptop. Everyday after the college I used to play The Sims 1 with that AWESOME soundtrack.

Windows 98/2000/XP was awesome. The Sims 1 was awesome. Y2K website is awesome I'm glad you folks re created it, there is even clicking sound when left click!

The amount of good memories I got from Sims 1 are beyond limits in a good way. I even had the honour to play The Sims Medieval a few years later on Windows 7.

Hope everything is going to be fine with the release soon and release on Steam and GOG. I doubt original devs still at the Maxis but still great to know EA have Maxis to remaster those awesome games. Don't change too much though, just make it work so we can play on Windows 10.

Thank you and god bless, have it some time to Maxis so they can remaster properly!

It reminds me Mass Effect Trilogy (bundle of 3 games re-released unchanged). The next step : The Sims Legendary Edition (remaster).

But will TS2 Ultimate Collection be updated ?

The Sims 2 Store content will certainly be missing, it's sad for the non-American players.

    Note :

Not "Remaster" just re-release , these original games are unchanged (no bug fix, no improvement).

  • It is great that the sims 1 and 2 are rereleased in a way that they will be playable on modern computers. ♥️

Like others I am interested to know what this means for the existing sims 2 ultimate collection. Will that be updated as well? I heard some rumors that that version will become unplayable later this year. Some official information in this regard would be appreciated.

I had The Sims "1" already & I have the code from the book as well as the discs - how can I get that updated for Windows 10/11 or will I have to rebuy the game?

  • I've been crying out for them to re-release these games for modern PCs! So many great memories playing the old games when I was a youngster.

Unfortunately, it sounds like many people are having technical issues with the new versions. I will hold off from buying them today and hope that these issues get fixed. Not much point buying a new version if it won't work properly.

  • As long as they make them work on newer systems (10/11) natively, update the UI and maybe resolution... great. I stopped playing after 2, but 1 and 2 really were huge. Especially 1 at the time was addictively fun and fresh.
